Description
Botanists have now "lumped" this under h. parishii; but, as Ron Ratko points out in his collection notes, h. alpestris is a dwarfer, more compact version; leaves are kidney shaped with crenate edging; grows amongst boulders on slopes with scattered in open, lodgepole pine at 9600'.
